Physical Requirements: Participants must be able to climb into transportation vans and climb ladders onto the boats, sleep in cabins with no A/C on bunk beds, and tolerate biting insects that are present in The Bahamas.

Overview

Come spend the week on the island of Andros and discover all of the magic this island has to offer. Groups will participate in land/sea excursions throughout the island exploring different marine ecosystems, visiting the highest concentration of blue holes, tide pooling, and snorkeling the 3rd largest fringing barrier reef in the world. Andros is the largest and one of the most remote of the Bahamian islands.

How to Book a Trip

Make sure you know:

  • Group Size

  • Age of participants

  • Dates you are available to travel

    *the more flexibility with your dates the better chance of booking a trip.

Once the above details are settled click our link below.


Schedule for a Typical Day

  • 7:00 am - Lodge Opens

  • 8:00 am - Breakfast

  • 9:00 am - Departure for a full day on boat or van

  • 12:00 pm - Lunch in the field

  • 4:00 pm - Return to Forfar

  • 6:00 pm - Dinner

  • 7:00 pm - Option for evening lecture, group activity or free time

  • 10:00 pm - Lodge Closes. Quiet time commences until 7:00 am.


Trip Leaders

Environmental Educators - Forfar has educational staff who live on the island year-round facilitating our guided field excursions, academic lectures, and general assistance for specific trip needs. Most of our educational staff have a background in Environmental Education, Marine Biology, Ecology, Fisheries, Botany, Geology, Environmental Biology, or similar science.


Trip Cost

Adults $1,499 USD

Youth $1,149 USD (ages 3-12)

  • minimum 6 paying adults

  • SCUBA dives are an option at an additional cost. See our Diving Rates.

What’s included: Flights from Nassau to Andros, 7 night stay at Forfar Field Station, 3 meals* a day, all field trips and excursions, and trip leaders.

*We can accommodate some dietary restrictions such as dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, etc.

What’s not included: Flight to Nassau, Bahamas, snorkel mask/snorkel/fins, incidentals, packing list items*, health insurance (required), and travel insurance (strongly recommended, not required).

* Alcohol is not permitted at the Field Station but there are a couple of bars within walking distance.
