Diving at Forfar Field Station

SCUBA diving at Forfar is a valuable technique for investigating and observing the Andros marine environment. While diving is fun and rewarding, it also has the potential to be dangerous. With this in mind, it is important that group leaders and students/participants are familiar with the IFS program, procedures, and safety standards. The safety of our guests is the number one priority of IFS and our staff. A dive orientation will be held upon arrival to familiarize divers with all safety procedures. Please read through our Dive Guide before arriving at the station.

DIVING DETAILS

  • Certified:

    • In order to dive at Forfar guests must be already SCUBA certified and present their certification card on island.

  • Dive Insurance:

    • Dive insurance is recommended for adults interested in diving and required for minors. Please email a copy of your dive insurance card to our office. You can read our blog post on dive insurance to learn more. Past divers often purchase the DAN Membership for one year for about ~$40 which comes with emergency evacuation for dive related accidents.

  • Minimum Divers:

    • A minimum of 2 divers is required to go diving or else a minimum payment is required for dives with less than 2 paying divers. Please contact the IFS office for the minimum payment rates prior to your trip.

  • Dive Times:

    • Certified divers will have the option to dive before breakfast (6 AM) prior to the scheduled group activities for the day. We cannot guarantee dives as they are weather dependent and the group’s itinerary takes precendent. Night Dives and 2 Tank Dives are not as common and will need to be discussed with the office in advance.

  • 2023 - 2024 Diving Rates:

    • 1 Tank Dive (Forfar Guest - usually an AM dive before breakfast) = $45

    • 2 Tank Dive (Forfar Guest) = $75

    • Night Dive (minimum of 5 people) = $75

    • Gear Package (includes BCD, regulators, weights, belt) = $25

      • Individual Gear: Regulator $15, BCD $12, Belts/Weights $5
