International Field Studies offers three main educational trips for students, school field studies trips, summer open enrollment programs, and a 6 week gap year program. Our Forfar Field Station is located on Andros Island in The Bahamas. Forfar sits just along the shore where students put their knowledge to the test with experiential learning. Our program has many different facets and will allow you to experience a true, immersive Marine-based field studies program with an introduction to Ecotourism and the Bahamian Culture.

Educational Trips for Student School Groups

International Field Studies offers schools the opportunity to travel to The Bahamas as a group. Students will engage in a variety of amazing experiences  during our educational trips for students, and all trips include:

Students will gain hands-on experience and understand how to properly research, measure and evaluate marine ecosystems. Watch our Forfar Field Station Experience video to learn more about the experience. 

  • Ages: 14+

  • Typically a 7 day trip

  • Location: Andros Island, The Bahamas

  • Price: $1575 for students and $1275 for chaperones

    • Price includes lodging, meals, excursions, inner island flight, transportation from Andros airport and transportation during the trip, excludes airfare to Nassau

    • 1 free chaperone per every 10 students

Educational Trips for Students Gap Year

International Field Studies offers a Gap Year program for recent high school graduates or college students. Our Gap Year Program details:

    • Fall Cohort

    • Winter Cohort: 

  • Ages: 18-24 years old

  • Price: $6,499

  • Location: Forfar Field Station, Andros, Bahamas

Our gap year program focuses on immersive marine-based field studies. With topics of Marine Science, Coastal Ecotourism, Island Ecology, Climate Change, SCUBA Diving, and Sea Kayaking. It truly is an unforgettable experience.

  • In order to secure your spot on the trip you need to pay a deposit.

Step 3: Passports 

  • Make sure you have a valid Passport that does not expire within 6 months of your travel date. 

Step 4: Review Packing List and Pre-Departure Documents 

  • Take the time to review our detailed packing list before the trip. International Field Studies will provide a variety of pre-departure documents 3-4 weeks before your travel date.

Educational Trips for Students Accommodations

Our location for the educational trips for students is located at Forfar Field Station, Andros Island. Our Field Station is a rustic former dive resort nestled on a beachfront coconut grove on the east coast of the island. Our cabins are rustic, and each cabin has 3-4 sets of bunk beds, electricity, fans, and a private bathroom with hot water and a shower. Wifi is available in our lodge for all guests.
