International Field Studies provides students with the unique opportunity for hands-on, outdoor, environmental education.  Offering trips that range in length from one week to one semester, subjects such as marine biology, botany, ornithology, archeology, oceanography, or ichthyology can be covered individually as areas of specialization or comprehensively in a broad overview of subtropical ecology.


Island hopping

Travel to the Exuma Cays, Berry Islands, or South Andros during the week. Students learn how to sail on the boat as a working crew.


Forfar Field Station

The accommodations include the rustic cabins built from limestone and pine; the main lodge with a kitchen, dining area, lounge, and classroom; and a fire pit, volleyball net and multiple hammocks.


The heart of the field study

Our knowledgeable staff can identify appropriate study sites, enhance site study by providing identification and supplementary information, and offer evening lectures as the group leader requests on a number of topics.
